Trailblazing French producer and techno artist Space 92 started producing when he was in his teens.
"Things started getting serious quite quickly, and my first gigs happened while I was still underage - I was not technically allowed to play in nightclubs haha. Different times and different alias, I ain’t sayin’ more."
Space describes his sound as, "Energetic techno with dark and melancholic undertones, a sprinkle of trance here and a sprinkle of acid there."
He recently launched the label TAKEOFF, while his own latest release is "Orbit Motion."
"Launching my own label had been a dream of mine for years," Space says. "I was longing for an imprint where I would have full creative control – not only musically, but visually, artistically, etc. I am so happy today to have achieved this goal. TAKEOFF’s first two released are my own, a decision I made on purpose to help my label, well, take off. ‘Offbeat’ was the very first single and went straight into the Beatport PT/D techno charts Top 3; ‘Orbit Motion’ is currently number 2 – who knows? It would be nice for a brand-new and fairly unheard-of label to score a number 1. Fingers crossed!"
As for gear: "I pretty much only use my laptop, as I'm on the road most of the time," he says. "VSTs have
really evolved these days, allowing me to do absolutely everything I want with great sound quality. When I'm in my studio, I still have my Ableton Push 2, a universal audio Apollo sound card and DT 770 headphones with a GENELEC monitoring pair. I also have a couple of Pioneer CDJ 2000 NXS 2 and a XONE 92 table to test my new tracks."
Looking ahead, Space 92 has plenty more planned for 2025.
"A million things," he says. "TAKEOFF’s release number 3, by super-talented Spanish duo Dok & Martin, is out next week; I myself have some music coming out soon on Drumcode – a really funky collaboration with NYC producer Charles D. I am also getting ready to go back on the road after recuperating from Ultra Music Festival and Beyond Wonderland – two epic events, one involving a tropical storm, and one involving lots of flashed boobies. You will see me this summer at several major festivals around the world, in the meantime take care!"
