David Kessel’s guitar work, electric and acoustic, can be found on Phil Spector productions and albums by John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Cher, Darlene Love, Dion, the Paley Brothers, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, the Ramones, and Celine Dion. 

David and his brother Dan are the only 2nd-generation members of the legendary recording studio session musicians referred to as The Wrecking Crew, who professionally were always known as American Federation of Musicians Local 47 union members.

As an active record producer, David’s studio collaborations include co- productions with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys and productions for The Ramones, the Go-Go’s, and the Ventures, to name just a few of his endeavors. Many of Kessel’s recordings as a musician and producer were done at Gold Star, Producer’s Workshop, and United Western Studios, in Hollywood.

Kessel has owned and operated various record labels and production companies.

In 2011, David Kessel co-founded Model Music Group, distributed by Fontana/Universal. The Bangles, Shelia E., and John Waite all have catalog products on the label.  

From 1995, Kessel, as a digital music pioneer, was a panelist or moderator at many high-profile digital music seminars. In October 1995, David Kessel was a panelist at the CMJ 1995 Music Seminar held at Lincoln Center in New York City, discussing The Future Sound of Music Distribution On-Line. In the fall of 1997, David lectured at the Durango, Colorado Songwriters Expo, with his dissertation on The Future of the Internet and Downloading Music for the Songwriter.

In July 1998, he was a featured speaker for the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS) at their Downloadable Music: Revolution or Revitalization? event, held at the Hotel Nikko in Beverly Hills. In November 1999, Kessel participated in a panel discussion and seminar called The Music Business -- mp3 It or Leave It (What the Digital Online Music Revolution Means to You), held on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. In 2002, he hosted and served as a panel moderator at the Entertainment Asset Management in the Digital Age seminar and technology showcase, held January 22-23 at the Bel Age Hotel in West Hollywood, California. Kessel returned as a panel moderator for the event in 2003.

David Kessel’s previous activities include: Chairman of the Board of the ground-breaking music website IUMA (the Internet Underground Music Archive), and head of its IUMA/Offline Records label.  Releasing the first ever CD associated with the Internet that had groundbreaking technology. A multi- platform (MAC and PC Compatible) CD Rom as well as a zero-track for playing music.

Kessel was Media Director/investor with Backstage Café Beverly Hills. A music industry themed joint venture with The Copeland Brothers (the late) booking agent Ian, IRS record label president Miles, and Stewart (drummer of the Police). This includes all media development, merchandising, and related promotional activities. Kessel was also Technical & Business Development consultant for Fansrule.  A fan-oriented website geared to Music, Sports, Fashion, & Movie / TV celebrities, including the rock group Aerosmith. He is the former Director of Content Production & Acquisition for Mediax. A multimedia development company & website, specializing in cross-platform media support for high-profile music & entertainment celebrities, including Paul McCartney & Rod Stewart.
