Blue Élan Records Announces Free Music Industry Webinar Series for Students

Blue Élan Records is announcing their first step towards bringing awareness to the current social climate and its commitment to making change with the “Take Note” webinar series. The independent Los Angeles-based record label is offering a 3-week series, aimed at creating more equity in the music industry, by providing BIPOC high school and college-aged students with free resources to learn more about the business. Whether you are aspiring to be an artist, manager, or executive, this free 3-week webinar series will prepare attendees with first-hand knowledge, taught by a variety of experienced Blue Élan staff members with combined experience from both major labels (Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, Sony Music) as well as notable independent labels (Def American, Relativity, Surf Dog, New West) within the industry.

The series, hosted virtually over zoom, is designed to go over the fundamentals of what every music industry career professional needs to know to start. Two different sessions are planned, one in the fall and one in the spring. The first session will be divided into three weekly courses, each week will focus on a specific topic related to the music industry, led by an expert from our company. Though the series is to help BIPOC, it is open to all who are interested in attending, aimed at high school and college-aged students.

Kacy Swain, who was recently appointed as the first Chief Social Initiative Officer, is leading the label team with ideas and campaigns to support the social views of the company. “Take Note” is one such initiative.  “I believe one of the biggest ways we can create change is by providing access and spreading knowledge,” explains Swain. “We want to provide access to those who have been failed by a system that doesn’t benefit them a chance to learn, ask questions, and make connections.”

Each week will focus on a topic specific to the music Industry.
