The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) will present the next installment of its webinars geared specifically for self-administered songwriters on Tuesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET, and any songwriters who have yet to join The MLC are encouraged to participate in the free session.

Hosted by The MLC’s Head of Educational Partnerships Serona Elton, the webinar is designed to educate songwriters on how they can receive digital audio mechanical royalties from The MLC and will include ample time for participant questions. Topics covered will include:

  • How The MLC defines self-administered (also known as self-published or independent) songwriters.
  • The history behind, and the basics of, mechanical licensing and royalties.
  • The MLC’s role in mechanical licensing and its overall scope of work.
  • Who is eligible for MLC Membership.
  • The steps self-administered songwriters can take to join The MLC for free.

The MLC recently distributed the first of its monthly digital audio mechanical royalty payments to Members, making it more important than ever for all eligible songwriters, composers, lyricists and others to join The MLC in order to receive the royalties they are owed.
