L.A.-based producer Juos says that he's been chasing career success since 2013.
"I went to Beyond Wonderland and it flipped something in me, hearing music like that in a room full of people for the first time," he says. "I started actually producing around 2015, but honestly the first couple years were just me in the dark figuring out what all the buttons did. I was working regular jobs—my first one was a Subway—and learning production on the side whenever I had energy left. It didn’t get serious until mid-COVID, when everything else stopped and all I had was time and a laptop. That’s when I stopped treating it like a hobby. DJing came later—I didn’t play my first show until November 2024, direct support for Wax Motif at Time Nightclub. I remember standing up there thinking this was either a one-time thing or the start of something. Turned out to be the start of something."
Juos describes his sound as hard-hitting and gritty.
"I grew up in South Central L.A. on reggaeton and Latin music blasting through the house, and then I found dance music and fell in love with the low end," he says. "My sound is what happens when those two worlds collide: Latin rhythm and hip-hop grit, built for peak time. I want it to feel like a backyard party in LA, unapologetic, a little rough around the edges, made for people who are already sweating. I’m not trying to make background music. I try to make records for festival mainstages and 2am club sets, the moments where the crowd is all the way in it."
His latest release is "Tequila Bounce," which he describes as "high energy, made to move a room."
"Nevve sent over that vocal almost a year before it came out, and I knew instantly," Juos says. "It’s like, when you hear something like that, you don’t sit on it too long. No Thanks and I built the record around it, and it ended up being one of those tracks where you can hear both of our styles clearly, but it still feels like one song instead of two people fighting for space. And yeah, tequila’s basically a go-to for me at this point, so the title tracks pretty true to me, haha."
As for gear: "On the DJ side it’s CDJ-3000s with an A9 mixer and an RMX-1000. Production-wise it’s actually pretty simple: mainly my laptop and a pair of AirPods, sometimes just the laptop speakers. I like getting an idea sounding good on the worst possible speakers first. If it slaps on AirPods or a laptop speaker, I know it’ll translate everywhere else. Once it gets to that stage, I move it over to my JBL 305P MkII 5-inch monitors to actually mix and master. It’s less about having the most expensive setup and more about trusting my ears at every stage."
Looking ahead, Juos has plenty planned for the coming months.
"2025 was the year everything picked up," he says. "I had a handful of releases, ‘Side Man’ with Techno Tupac hit #1 on Beatport’s Bass House chart, and it’s been surreal watching people I grew up idolizing start playing my own records back to me in their sets. Coming into the rest of this year, I’ve got a collab with Andruss dropping that I’m really excited about, plus festival sets at Nocturnal Wonderland and Escape—Escape’s going to be a special one since Andruss and I are doing a B2B set there. I’ve got support slots lined up with Kaskade, Deorro, and Bolo, plus some headline dates of my own. Outside of music, I played soccer for about fifteen years growing up, so if I’m not in the studio or on a flight, there’s a good chance I’m watching a match."
