BMI Celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month

BMI celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month during April each year by recognizing the exceptional heritage, history and future of jazz. For decades, so many of BMI's gifted composers have been making their mark as they drive forward the evolving genre-mixing styles, improvising rhythms and fusing sounds. Several composers have even gone on to be awarded the highest jazz honor in the country. This year, the #BMIJazz family is telling us how they started creating jazz and who inspires them!

Be sure to check out videos by saxophonist and composer Braxton Cook and jazz vocalist and composer Carmen Lundy. Individually, they tell us how they started creating jazz, their earliest influences and more.

It doesn’t end there!

BMI also created a curated Spotify playlist featuring songs by our phenomenal #BMIFamily. Lastly, be sure to check Instagram throughout the month for all-things Jazz, including our upcoming videos featuring saxophonist Dave Koz, saxophonist and composer Miguel Zenon and more! #BMIFamily
