Timbaland Appoints Gary Marella as Mosley Music Group EVP

Multiplatinum, Grammy-winning producer, Timbaland, has appointed Gary Marella to be Executive Vice President of Mosley Music Group. Marella will oversee Mosely Music Group’s current roster with Marcus Spence, which includes One Republic, Timbaland, Tink, VBozeman and more, in addition to all Timbaland and Mosley Music Group’s related projects.

Marella, currently still running Mono Music Group was previously with Roc Nation’s management company, Three Six Zero Grou. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President of promotion at Universal Records from 2000-2009.

“I am excited for this incredible opportunity to work with such a legend as Timbaland, who is truly an innovator of sound,” said Marella. “Marcus Spence is one the most talented and humble music execs I have met in this business in the last 20 years and is an incredible A&R person. Timbaland and Senior Vice President Marcus Spence have had a tremendous amount of success to this point. Together, I know we will continue building the Timbaland and Mosley Music Group brand.”

Timbaland added, “Having Gary on my team has brought everything to the next level. He’s a true visionary who not only will help to expand our roster, but will also optimize and identify opportunities for them."

Mosley Music Group is distributed by Epic Records (Sony Music Group) and will release two key projects this year—Timbaland’s new LP Textbook Timbo and Tink’s debut studio album.

Outside of making great changes within Mosley Music Group, Timbaland has made announcements within the last month. He recently announced his deal with Leftfield Pictures to develop Opera Noir, a scripted hip-hop musical. He will also be teaming up with LaLa to develop a hip-hop docuseries focusing on Jeff Janvier and Session Cruz’s Face Time Agency. Along with these announcements, Timbaland has dived into the world of technology by partnering with Google Android Co-Creator Andy Rubin to launch Subpac, which Forbes describes as “a physical-sound technology that expands the audio concept of music into a fully-immersive experience.”
