In Case You Missed It: YouTube Goes Red

YouTube has announced YouTube Red, a paid membership that lets users enjoy videos across all of YouTube without ads, while also letting users save videos to watch offline on your phone or tablet and play videos in the background, all for $9.99 a month. And just like with their advertising revenue, the majority of revenue accumulated from YouTube Red memberships will go to the creator community.

YouTube Red membership extends across devices and anywhere signing into YouTube, including the recently launched YouTube Gaming app and a brand new YouTube Music app, also announced. The YouTube Music app is designed to make discovering, watching and listening to music easier. Any song or artist chosen on YouTube Music will start users on a personal journey through a music catalog—sign in, tap a track and see where the music takes you.

In addition, YouTube has provided an update around YouTube Originals, an initiative that will generate new, ambitious content from popular creators including PewDiePie, Fine Bros., Rooster Teeth, Lilly Singh aka IISuperwomanII and many more in 2016.
