This Ain't No Picnic Festival at The Rose Bowl | LCD Soundsystem, The Strokes

Saturday August 27th marked day one of This Ain’t No Picnic Festival at Brookside at The Rose Bowl, produced by Goldenvoice.

Isabella Lovestory kicked off Day 1 at the Back Nine stage which then additionally boasted a wide range of artists from Jorja Smith, Jungle and Mac DeMarco to Earl Sweatshirt, Ying Yang Twins, Queen Naija, Enjoy, and LALA LALA.

Hana Vu got the Greens Stage started, which hosted a unique blend of acts; Arooj Aftab, Godford, Eyedress, Ethel Cain, Magdalena Bay, Circle Jerks and Kelly Lee Owens.

The Fairway Stage boasted wide-ranging, exceptional talent– from Isaiah Rashad and Yves Tumor to Julia Jacklin and Courtney Barnett, with Genesis Owusu joining the crowd. Kaytranada brought his signature blend of R&B groove. The night ended with Le Tigre’s first performance in 12 years and LCD Soundsystem bringing it home with an electric performance of “Dance Yrself Clean.”

Attendees danced the night away at the 19th Hole to vibey sets from Honey Dijon, Gerd Janson, Danilo Plessow (MCDE), as well as Palms Trax, Leon Vynehall, peach, Maral and Dave P throughout the day.

All day festival goers cooled off under the disco ball in the Despacio tent.

The festival also featured a wide assortment of food offerings from Monty’s Good BurgerHomestate, D.R.E.A.MDonut Truck, Broad Street Oyster Co., Picnic Sandwich and more.

On Saturday, Jorja Smith, Earl Sweatshirt, Courtney Barnett, and more took the stage with Le Tigre reuniting for their first performance in 12 years and only live show of 2022. Australian singer Genesis Owusu roamed into the crowd for his set and LCD Soundsystem capped the night with a crowd-pleasing performance of hits.

The weekend came to an epic conclusion on Sunday with performances from Beach House, Turnstile, a rare combined set from Four Tet + Floating Points, a rip-roaring set from IDLES and more. Wet Leg hit the Fairway stage for a second time to join Phoebe Bridgers for a finale of “I Know The End” on her biggest hometown show to date - marking the end of the “Punisher” US tour. The Strokes ended the night with a blistering and triumphant set.
