Mikey Knigin of London nu-metal band Smutclub Ldn told us about his love for an ear lick...
Mikey Knigin: Two weeks ago I heard "Coil" by the artist ear and I can't stop listening to it.
It's a bittersweet, dreamy tune that is super nice on its own. But when the synth riff hits at 1:32 for the first time, I just felt like i was sent somewhere else. Everytime I get tired, sad or overstimulated during the day it starts playing in my head. I take a deep breath, play this song again and it feels like I escape, there's no more struggle. It's a beautiful melodic line and a beautiful analog tone that just hits my brain in a very nice way and as the song resolves so do all of my emotions.
I love ear's sound. Their stuff makes me chill. Love their voices, they blend great. When I hear their music it makes me want to go and create more art. I might also buy an analog synth (RIP Novation Bass station 2 that got lost in the void of London).
Smutclub Ldn's single "Elephant" is out now.
