The Best Gig I Ever Saw: Mia Martina Recalls Céline Dion's Colour of My Love

Multi-Platinum artist Mia Martina told us about her Céline Dion experience...

Mia Martina: The best gig I ever saw was Céline Dion on The Colour of My Love tour.

I was so young. It was my very first concert.

I watched Céline every day on TV. Awards shows, performances, interviews. She felt larger than life to me. As a French girl growing up in Canada, seeing someone who sounded like me, who carried that identity so proudly, meant everything. My parents knew how much I loved her and surprised me with tickets. I don’t think any of us knew that night would quietly change everything.

I remember it all. The scale of the stage, the elegance of the musicians, the power of the background vocalists, the magic of her outfits.

And then there was her voice.

It didn’t just sound beautiful. It moved through the room. Powerful and tender at the same time. There was something in it that felt familiar, like home, even in an arena. Une voix qui te prend par le cœur et ne te lâche plus. To this day, I’ve never heard anything quite like it.

But the moment that lives inside me forever happened during The Power of Love.

I was right at the front. And somehow, she saw me. She reached down and told me to grab her hand. I remember holding on, noticing her huge diamond ring sparkling under the lights, and thinking I never wanted to let go. I was so little, but something in me clicked. I wasn’t just a fan. I felt seen.

I remember saying to myself, very clearly, this will be me one day.

Not the fame. The feeling. The presence. The way she made the entire room soften and rise at the same time.

That night showed me what a performance really is. It’s not just about the voice or the lights or the production. It’s about energy. About generosity. About letting people feel something real.

Years later, after standing on stages of my own, that moment still guides me.

The best gigs don’t just entertain you. They stay with you. They remind you who you are before the world tells you otherwise. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, they plant a dream in your heart and trust you to carry it forward.
