Country singer-songwriter Elizabeth Nichols told us about her Lady Gaga / Tony Bennett experience...
Elizabeth Nichols: I live in Nashville and when I first moved here I was so taken by all of the live music here, I’d go (sometimes by myself) to any, or all, of the bars on Broadway and watch the bands for hours. It was such a magical experience—but that was more of a collective gig experience so I’m guessing that doesn’t qualify.
If I had to narrow it down to just one, I’d say Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. It was such an incredible and unexpected pairing of talent. They put on an amazing show— it’s sad the world will never get to experience that again. I grew up going to Vegas with my dad and we’d always gamble, catch a show and go back to gambling— that night we skipped the post-show Blackjack and actually met them afterwards. Lady Gaga in full costume having a normal everyday conversation after singing with thee Tony Bennett was so surreal. The fact that I got to share it with my dad was the icing on the cake.
