Studio 78 Goes Online in Nashville

Studio 78, formally The Blue Grotto, is under new ownership and management with house engineer Daewoo Kim at the helm. Co-owned by Kim and producer Phil Barfoot, this famous Music City PhantomFocus MixRoom™ studio has been upgraded to include a new dedicated piano room, B3 room, Iso room and musicians’ lounge, along with an SSL Origin console with a host of new outboard gear.

Studio 78 continues the studio's award-winning legacy of being one of Nashville’s premium mix facilities while also hosting many tracking dates with its spacious and acoustically desirable live room and now, comfortable new booths and other amenities.

Comments house engineer Daewoo Kim, “The attention to detail by Carl Tatz and his team is second to none. And it shows in the products that are produced here. There is no second guessing when music leaves this room.”

Kim goes on to say, “Thanks to our Dual PhantomFocus Monitor System with the PFM UHD-1000 Master Reference Monitors and Dynaudio M3 mains, it’s enjoyable to record here, enjoyable to mix here, and most importantly, it’s enjoyable to listen to music that was produced here outside of the studio.”

Producer and co-owner Phil Barfoot shares, “Our PhantomFocus MixRoom studio exceeds all our expectations of excellence in every way. Carl Tatz is one of the top designers and studio visionaries in the business, and we could not be more pleased with the PhantomFocus products and the acoustical design of our studio. Thanks, Carl!
