Singer, songwriter and Montecito resident Brad Paisley and friends performed a sold-out show at the Santa Barbara Bowl on May 12th. The show dubbed "The 2nd Responders" refers to people on the fronts lines of the wildfires and the Montecito mudslides.
Ellen DeGeneres introduced her neighbor and performed a song about the community. Proceeds from the show will benefit the community and service workers through local organizations.
Paisley wants people to know that a majority of the businesses are up and running again after a number of evacuations. Paisley and his wife Kim discovered Montecito on their honeymoon. Together they hope to raise awareness and spirits in the region. Paisley said he likes its small-town feel by the sea.
Paisley spent days leading up to the performance buying people coffee and ice cream at local shops. He also signed South Park comic books with his likeness at Metro Entertainment.
Both Brad Paisley and Ellen DeGeneres live in Montecito and saw the need for the community to come together and provide funds for the natural disaster. It was a night of comedy, great music and reflection.
