VAST
Turquoise and Crimson
Genre-blending artist Whitney Tai told us about her love for a VAST gem.
Whitney Tai: Turquoise and Crimson is by far one of the most melodically beautiful, energetic, intrinsically raw and soul assaulting records I’ve had the late pleasure of coming across. Jon’s vocals are demanding of every one of your senses and his productions leave you yearning for more. Each song is a testament to how finding your sound, approach or special touch is an effortless thread that emphasizes one’s musical authenticity.

When I hear VAST, I am listening to VAST and I know I can only go there to get this experience. This double album is jam packed with amazing alternative and industrial elements that are reminiscent of VAST’s earlier standout hit, Touched. I am in love with Crosby’s voice, he sings with so much passion, ferocity and pain. There’s a deep and persisting beauty in the songs he writes that sink into your bones and will not leave for weeks.
Invigorating songs like “Be With Me” “That’s My Boy” “Lost” “Don’t Take Your Love Away From Me” “Dead Angels” and “Winter In My Heart” are staples in my collection. The album possesses a magic whereby your reality is merged with the expanse, his sounds and melodies fusing with your being. I haven’t felt this moved in a long time until discovering his work.
Whitney Tai's American Wasteland album is out September 12.
