Mumford & Sons at the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA

British Folk Rock group Mumford & Sons returned to Los Angeles, CA for the first time in two years to play an unforgettable night at the Hollywood Bowl with Good Neighbours on June 12th. Their last performance took place at the Bellwether where they performed for just 1,500 people. This is their second tour since the COVID-19 pandemic and first major Los Angeles show since 2019.

Mumford & Sons formed in 2009 and their debut album, Sigh No More included two of their biggest hits: “Little Lion Man" and "The Cave.” The band released three more albums, Babel, Wilder Mind, and Delta, dropping every three years, before taking a seven year break from releasing an album. That is, until this year when they released Rushmere. From Rushmere, Mumford & Sons performed the three singles, including the album’s title track "Malibu," which was the opening song of their set, and “Caroline." Also from Rushmere, “Where It Belongs” and “Truth" were played. Rushmere is the first album from the group as a trio—founding members Marcus Mumford (guitar/vocals/drums), Ben Lovett (piano/keys), and Ted Dwane (bass)—after guitarist and co-founder Winton Marshall departed in 2021. The set, before the five-song encore, included hits “Babel,” “I Will Wait,” and “Little Lion Man.” Lucius joined in for "Icarus" and "Awake My Soul." Mumford would then come into the audience during "Ditmas."

The first two encore songs, “Timshel” and “Reminder,” were performed on their b-stage located in the Terrace box section. The final song of the night was “The Cave” and as it took place at the Hollywood Bowl, which known for their famous fireworks, the show went out with a bang. Throughout the night, Mumford switched between playing bass drum, guitar, and a full drumset. The band was accompanied by several touring musicians.
