The MLC (Mechanical Licensing Collective) hosted a creator event in Atlanta on Wednesday night. Industry leaders Prophet and Tammy Hurt were on hand "to discuss the importance of songwriters understanding their rights, collecting all their streaming royalties, and managing the business side of their careers," they said in a statement sent to MC.

"The MLC recently joined Prophet, Co-Founder, President & CEO of the Black Music Action Coalition, and entertainment executive, entrepreneur, and drummer Tammy Hurt, for a special fireside chat in Atlanta to explore what it takes to build a sustainable career in music—from protecting rights and maximizing royalties to navigating the business as a creative entrepreneur," they continued. "Attendees learned about the importance of understanding their rights, leveraging available resources like The MLC to collect the royalties they’ve earned, and building long-term strategies for success in an ever-changing music industry. This year, The MLC surpassed $3 billion in total royalties distributed and grew its membership to more than 65,000. To learn more or join for free, visit themlc.com."
