Michael Marquart Has Eventful January

Michael Marquart, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and leader of the GRAMMY®-nominated musical project A Bad Think, had a whirlwind January 2020 with multiple appearances at high-profile industry events.

On Saturday, Jan. 18, Marquart participated in a panel at The NAMM Show in Anaheim. A panel, titled “The Anatomy of Immersive & Surround Sound Audio,” served as a keynote for the convention’s TEC Tracks series. Focusing on the current and future state of multi-channel and immersive audio production, the panel featured the music of A Bad Think as well as select tracks from the Universal Music Group’s catalog.

A Bad Think was honored with a GRAMMY® nomination for its album The Savior in the category Best Immersive Audio Album, and the 62nd GRAMMY Awards took place Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Marquart and Dave Way attended the ceremony, where they were presented with medals commemorating the nomination.

Marquart remarks, “Being nominated for a GRAMMY is one of the highest honors of my career, and sharing the nomination with my close collaborators is particularly meaningful to me. We are hard at work on new music, with an eye toward giving it the full multichannel treatment once again. Stay tuned in 2020!”
