Record producer, Blue October bassist and Orb Recording Studios co-founder Matt Noveskey will join some of rock’s most renowned recording wizards for a South By Southwest Music & Media Conference panel titled “The Evolution of the Record Producer” at 5 p.m. Friday, March 15, in Room 17B at the Neal Kocurek Memorial Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St. The panel is open to SXSW music and platinum badge-holders and artists with wristbands.
At 10 p.m. that night, IAMDYNAMITE, a Detroit-based rock band produced and managed by Noveskey, will perform an official SXSW showcase at BD Riley’s Irish Pub, 204 E. Sixth St. The showcase is open to music and platinum badge-holders and wristband wearers.
Up-and-coming band IAMDYNAMITE’s Noveskey-produced single, “Where Will We Go,” reached No. 32 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart. Austinite Noveskey’s credits also include Rolling Stone top unsigned band pick Courrier and acclaimed singer-songwriter Joshua Radin. In June, Noveskey will open Orb Recording Studios, a state-of-the-art recording and production facility, with partner (and former Blue October guitarist) C.B. Hudson.
Moderated by Tim Palmer (Robert Plant, Pearl Jam), the panel also features Hugh Padgham (The Police, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, XTC, Melissa Etheridge), electronic music pioneer Richard James Burgess (Spandau Ballet, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings) and Richard Gottehrer (co-founder and chief creative officer of The Orchard music and video distribution company).
