The Orchard
Producers: Gretchen Parlato, Alan Hampton
With trademark ethereal mastery, Gretchen Parlato releases her seventh album, The Wise Ones. The gorgeous collection features Robert Glasper, Gerald Clayton, Alan Hampton, Mark Guiliana, Becca Stevens, Amber Navran (Moonchild) and Meshell Ndegeocello navigating a dreamy blend of jazz, R&B, and soulful vocals, syncopated harmonies and clean, contemporary instrumentals.
In a partnership favoring instinct over arrangement, Parlato and co-producer Alan Hampton incorporate old and new material, including original interpretations of Stevie Wonder, Roland Orzabel and Josh Mease music. A captivating journey that draws on jazz sensibilities while injecting fresh combinations of sound.
