Kris Angelis Signs to Blue Élan Records

Blue Élan Records announced on Thursday that singer-songwriter Kris Angelis has signed with the label and released new album Le Sigh, "her most accomplished and soul-baring album yet."

"The 10-track collection is led by the evocative first single, 'Is That You?,' a haunting blues-tinged meditation on lost love, regret, and the ghosts we carry – available on all streaming platforms, today," a statement reads. "With storytelling at the core of her music, Angelis has always turned personal experiences into cinematic songs. Raised on a farm in Florida with her identical twin sister, Kris began performing in a backyard treehouse and dreaming of Broadway. That dream took a turn toward Americana and folk-pop as she began writing and touring, ultimately finding a home in the roots-conscious world of Blue Élan."

"Originally conceived as a series of unsent letters, Le Sigh reads like a confessional, with its opening track 'Dear Me' offering a letter to her younger self—poetic, introspective, and self-aware," they added. "On 'Is That You?,' Angelis conjures a tender reckoning with emotional missteps: 'Will you forgive me / For not being brave enough / For being so young / Not knowing I’d won / Not calling my own bluff.'"

"The album’s centerpiece, “Goodbye Captain Fantastic,” co-written with Abby Posner and Mary Scholz, is a stirring ballad that references Elton John while bidding farewell to a lost love. Other standout tracks include the whimsical, samba-tinged title track 'Le Sigh' and the noirish 'Read My Mind,' which channels Bond theme grandeur with orchestral drama and sultry power."

"Le Sigh was produced by Grammy-nominated Rachael Moore (T-Bone Burnett, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss) at Middletree Studios in Nashville and features an all-star band including Joe Pisapia, Jamie Dick, Brian Allen, and violinist Jeb Bows. Angelis’ lush vocals, nuanced songwriting, and cinematic arrangements cement her place as one of today’s most authentic and adventurous voices in Americana-pop," they continued. "Following her critically acclaimed releases That Siren Hope and The Skies We Look To—both chart-toppers on iTunes’ singer-songwriter list—Angelis continues her journey as a modern-day troubadour. With guitar in hand, she’ll soon head back on the road in her Prius, connecting with fans stateside and overseas in Japan, where her fiancée is currently stationed with the U.S. Navy."

“My songs are the sighs of growing up,” says Kris. “Moments of heartbreak, hope, humor, and resilience. It’s all in there.”

"Is That You?" is available July 23 on all digital platforms.

Le Sigh will be released October 17 via Blue Élan Records.
