Interview: Tyler Connolly from Theory of a Deadman by Charlie Meister

While we continue to roll through the summer, there seems to be a never-ending supply of fall tours that are being announced lately. Today, I’m catching up with Theory of a Deadman’s Tyler Connolly to chat about their upcoming tour, along with what the band has been up to over the last year. Be sure to check out some of our prior interviews with the following acts that are all set to perform and/or tour at festivals and headlining dates in the coming months!

Theory of a Deadman is gearing up for a major US tour, with a few dates in early August and the full tour getting under way on August 27th in Valley Center, CA. Be sure to check the full tour itinerary HERE

A few notable moments from our interview with Tyler:

On meet and greets for the upcoming tour:

“No meet and greets out of the gate…let’s just see what happens first, before we get a bunch of fand spending money and we have to say “sorry.” I think there’ll be meet and greets. I think we just want to do a few shows…and then hopefully we’ll be able to do some meet and greets”

On the timeliness of topics covered on 2020’s ‘Say Nothing’ album:

“We were kind of joking around…one of my favorite songs “World Keeps Spinning,” this really sounds like what a lot of people were feeling during the pandemic. Man, this is such a COVID song, it’s so kind of creepy because it was written well before that.”

On fans sharing their experiences with Tyler and the band:

“We have a ton of fans come up to us, in tears…we’re never prepared for fans to talk about suicide, and we were their favorite band. It’s not something you’re prepared for. Just to see that people are able to do that, and talk about it, is really amazing.”
