Hollywood Music In Media Awards (HMMA) Now Accepting Admissions

The 17th annual Hollywood Music In Media Awards™ (HMMA) is now accepting admissions. The first award organization to honor original music in visual media, including film, TV, video games, trailers, commercial advertisements and documentaries, HMMA is often an indicator of who will be honored for other big awards later, such as the Oscars, Golden Globes, EMMYs and Grammys.

To be considered for nominations, HMMA must be able to review the project, including music-to-picture, even if only in part. Unreleased projects are reviewed at film festivals and/or private screenings. Short Films are defined as motion pictures with a running time of 40 minutes or less, including credits. For documentary and film categories, the director and the producer(s) composer credits must be included, if applicable. Student films may be submitted at a 50% discount when eligibility is confirmed. More on specific requirements on the submission form.

The HMMA ceremony, held this year at Avalon Hollywood, on Nov, 18, will feature live music performances, industry leaders as guest hosts, tributes and a red carpet with photo opportunities. There is also a Music in Media Interactive Symposium, which aims to provide democratization in the new music industry, bringing together the global creative community for panels and networking the week of the event.

“We’re especially excited about this year’s Hollywood Music in Media Awards because music has never been more vital to storytelling,”  says Founder & Executive Producer Brent Harvey. “From film and television to streaming and video games, we’re seeing an explosion of bold, innovative scores and songs that are transforming how audiences experience stories on screen.”

The gathering of  composers, songwriters, and artists will have tickets on sale after the first round of nominations are announced at the end of October. Since the event sells out every year it’s suggested to purchase early. Live performances will be announced in the coming weeks as well as the 2026 recipient of the HMMA’s Outstanding Career Achievement Award.
