LA-based Chinese-American producer, singer, and DJ XIE started producing when she was making demo tracks to go with her vocals.
"[I] quickly realized how capable I was to take things into my own hands," XIE says. "It’s honestly the best decision I’ve ever made-nothing can compare to the creative freedom being able to produce great tracks has given me. DJing naturally followed as the performative half of my Artistry and my love for the live side just keeps growing."
XIE thinks of herself as a chameleon in house music.
"I love tech house, minimal and even more of the organic worldly house," she says. "I think as a producer I’m always evolving but staying under the house umbrella. As long as it fits in the club that’s what’s my focus is right now."
XIE's latest release is "Kick Drum Heart, a "bumping tech house anthem."
"It’s about my infatuation with electronic music (specifically the kick drum) and how mesmerizing it is especially when experienced loud in the club," she says. "I live for that feeling! It’s the final release from my EP Kick Drum Heart which I wrote as my homage to house. As the lyrics say, “music makes the world go round... I gave my heart to the kick drum!”
As for gear: "There’s nothing quite like putting on my Sennheiser HD25 headphones and opening up Ableton or getting on my CDJ 3000s and plugging in. Some of my favorite plugins are Serum (for synths, keys, basses, fx), UAD Maag EQ & Tube Tech CL 1B (EQ & Compressor), and Endless Smile (reverb/fx)."
Looking ahead, XIE has plenty planned for 2025.
"I’m booking some headline shows at some of my favorite clubs in the US that I’m really excited for - Summer can’t come soon enough," she says. "Along with more exciting new music I’ve been working hard on. My ‘Kick Drum Heart’ EP is the jumping point to the next chapter of my artistry and I can’t wait to keep expanding worldwide bringing my fresh blend of sounds (uk tech house/melodic leads/catchy writing) to the house scene."
