Amsterdam electronic duo Cybersex met each other at a fashion school in Amsterdam called AMFI back in 2019.
"Then COVID happened, which actually turned out to be a blessing for us," they say. "It gave us the time to combine school with learning how to DJ and throwing big raves during that period. That’s when our DJ career really started to take off."
Regarding their sound, the pair says, "Many elements of dub, house, and techno can be found in our sound, but not at the tempo you’re used to. Cybersex plays at a fast pace, making most records almost unrecognizable. In addition, Cybersex has a soft spot for glitchy synthesizers, modulators, and a sea of drum machines. One thing will always remain central: the constant development of our sound and the ongoing search for groove and rhythm."
Cybersex recently released a new set: "We released a seven-hour set featuring a mix of old-school house with many different SXC house chords!"
As for gear: "4 x CDJ 3000/2000 mk2 Xone 96 and some GOOD FUCKING SPEAKERS."
Looking ahead, Cybersex has plenty planned for 2026.
"We have a show in Basel on February 6th at Elysia, with DJs on the lineup such as Freddy K, Chlär, and Colin Blenders," they say. "We’re also hosting our own event called De Reünie in Amsterdam on February 27th, where we’ll be playing as well. In addition, we have a bigggg show at Drumsheds London on February 20th for XXL London. And on April 24th we are hosting our very first Cybersex invites somewhere in Berlin."
