Many fan favorites of Hendrix were played starting with “Freedom,” and ending with “Voodoo Child.” There were many great guitar duets including Ana Popovic and Dweezil Zappa, and Eric Johnson and Johnny Lang. There were 26 songs in total which showed how much great music Hendrix recorded in such a short amount of time between originals and blues covers with his bands Experience Hendrix and Band of Gypsys. A big highlight was blues legend Taj Mahal and Band of Gypsys bassist Billy Cox performing “Hey Joe.” This year was the 50th anniversary of Woodstock and next year will mark 50 years since Hendrix’s untimely passing at 27.
