Derek Smalls at The Palace Theatre in Los Angeles, CA

Spinal Tap’s outrageous bassist Derek Smalls (the rock and rolling alias of SNL's and The Simpsons’ Harry Shear) performed with an all-star cast at the historic Palace Theatre, in Downtown Los Angeles. The event, which included not just one full orchestra but another one via satellite, plus a satellite appearance by Steely Dan founder/singer, Donald Fagen, was billed as Lukewarm Water Live! An Adventure in Loud Music, and featured some Spinal Tap classics with cuts from his latest solo album, Smalls Change: Meditations upon Aging. The night ended with one of the all time odes to rear-ends, the bootylicious “Big Bottom,” which featured just about everybody on the bass. Seen here in the video are Steve Vai, Marc Bonilla, Steve Lukather, Dweezil Zappa, Derek Smalls, Jack Black, Paul Shaffer, Kyle Glass, and Will Lee.
