Music journalist Bain has been attending the Coachella Festival for years, and she’s put all those hours in the baking desert sun to good use. Her lungs full of dust were not for nothing. Bain’s book isn’t only an exhaustive history of the event, although it is that. Rather though, she successfully captures the sights, sounds and general vibes of the festival since it got going at the start of the millennium. We feel the changes as the years move along, and it’s refreshing that Bain doesn’t take a largely cynical approach to the Coachella of today (outfits and all). A triumph, all told.
