Founded in 1924 and still designing and engineering most of its products in Heilbronn, Germany, beyerdynamic has earned the trust of creators, gamers, musicians, and studio pros around the world. Whether in grand concert halls or bedroom studios, beyerdynamic’s gear consistently delivers the kind of high-performance sound that makes audio professionals listen a little longer.
Now, the brand is bringing back one of its most beloved headphones—not as a cameo, but as a full-time cast member.
After launching in 2024 as a limited-edition model to mark beyerdynamic’s 100th anniversary, the DT 770 PRO X is officially joining the company’s core product line. The move comes after overwhelming demand from fans who weren’t ready to let go. According to a statement from the company, the DT 770 PRO X “brings modern flexibility and comfort to the legacy of the iconic DT 770 PRO.”
And it's quite a legacy. Since its debut in the 1980s, the original DT 770 PRO has been a go-to in studios across the globe, valued for its detailed sound, durability, and all-day comfort. Its influence has spanned decades and genres, trusted by top-tier musicians and producers—from Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney to Lana Del Rey and the Kelce brothers.
But as recording tools and workflows have evolved—from massive mixing boards to mobile setups—so have the expectations for studio headphones. The DT 770 PRO X answers that call, blending the trusted sound signature of the original with updated features for the modern user.
At the center of the upgrade is beyerdynamic’s STELLAR.45 driver system, designed for high-resolution audio reproduction. A detachable Mini-XLR cable allows for more flexibility across setups, and a newly padded headband plus velour ear cushions make long sessions far more comfortable. With an impedance of 48 ohms, the DT 770 PRO X plays well with both professional interfaces and portable devices—no adapter jungle required.
“We were blown away by the reception to the DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition,” said Andreas Rapp, CEO of beyerdynamic. “It was clear from the start that this headphone had staying power. By officially adding it to our product lineup, we’re meeting the needs of a new generation of studio professionals who demand both pristine quality and modern functionality.”
Priced at $199.99, the DT 770 PRO X is now available through the beyerdynamic e-shop and authorized retailers like Guitar Center and Sweetwater. Each pair includes a 3-meter Mini-XLR to 3.5mm cable, a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter, and a premium drawstring carry bag.
What began as a limited-edition release has officially earned its place in beyerdynamic’s headphone hall of fame. The DT 770 PRO X proves that sometimes, even legends can evolve.
