ASCAP Foundation Offers New Scholarship For Asian and Pacific Islander Students

The ASCAP Foundation has launched its first scholarship to support creators and performers of Asian or Pacific Islander descent. The ASCAP Foundation AAPI Scholarship will benefit undergraduate or graduate students of Asian or Pacific Islander descent who are planning to pursue a career in music. Two recipients will each receive a $2,500 scholarship to be used towards school tuition.

“Our new scholarship helps support members of the AAPI community who are ready and eager to pursue a music career,” said The ASCAP Foundation Executive Director Nicole George-Middleton. “We want to help increase representation in the AAPI music communities at the college level as well as recognize new and upcoming talent.”

The ASCAP Foundation AAPI Scholarship’s application period begins May 1, 2023 and ends at 11:59pm. Applicants are judged by industry professionals on their originality, the quality and craft of the song and ability to demonstrate proficiency in songwriting. The rules and application process can be found at https://www.ascapfoundation.org/aapi. For further information, please email [email protected].

This scholarship is made possible in part by generous funding from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
