Only a few weeks away, KAABOO Del Mar 2018, the leading SoCal destination music, entertainment, and arts festival takes place Friday, Sept. 14 through Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Del Mar Racetrack and San Diego County Fairgrounds. The multigenerational event isn’t just about music; it’s about togetherness and community.
Just north of San Diego overlooking the shores of the Pacific Ocean, the upscale curated “mixperience,” celebrating its fourth year in beautiful Del Mar, has already established itself as a significant player in the live event sector.
Outdoor music festival attendees will openly admit most summer events are not for the faint of heart. The focus becomes less on the music and more on the survival tactics. Not so with KAABOO Del Mar, the ‘ANTI festival-festival’; their website affirms, “Forget what you know about music festivals. We're shifting the paradigm and starting something new.”
The three-day beachside extravaganza provides guests with the coveted conveniences hardly ever associated with festivals; ample sitting areas, both indoor and outdoor, shaded and chilled to keep music enthusiasts sweat, dust and mud-free during the hottest parts of the day. Moreover, how about real bathrooms with flushable toilets (no port-a-potties).
KAABOO's roster continues to offer a world-class multi-genre lineup of artists.
Kicking off the weekend festivities on Friday night will be the iconic Foo Fighters who will headline along with Incubus, Halsey, Post Malone, Gucci Mane, and Blondie. Comedian headliners are Craig Ferguson, Tom Papa, Nikki Glaser, Erik Griffin, with J.F. Harris hosting the controlled hilarious chaos.
Imagine Dragons, N.E.R.D., Earth, Wind & Fire, Billy Idol, CAKE, and Big Boi will be the highly-anticipated headliners for Saturday night, along with kings and queens of comedy, Iliza Shlesinger, Craig Robinson, Whitney Cummings, Louie Anderson, and Orny Adams.
Katy Perry will be closing out the 2018 KAABOO fest Sunday night in the headlining spot along with Robert Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters, Wiz Khalifa, Slash, featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Alice in Chains, Jewel, and TLC. Comedians Judd Apatow & Friends, Kevin Nealon, and Pauly Shore will be bringing down the “HUMOR ME” house.
A bonus this year; at least one Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee will be performing each day; Sept. 14, Blondie. Sept. 15, Earth Wind & Fire. Sept. 16, former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, and Elvin Bishop, the former guitarist for Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
The diverse lineup, designed to satisfy all music lovers, also stars Jimmy Eat World, Stone Temple Pilots, Quinn XCII, Nelly, Melissa Etheridge, The All-American Rejects, Tower of Power, Bebe Rexha, War, Everclear, Better Than Ezra, Candlebox, The Zombies, and many more.
