Goldenvoice Announces We Rock with Standing Rock Benefit in L.A.

Goldenvoice has announced We Rock with Standing Rock, a benefit concert in support of the Standing Rock Reservation water protectors of North Dakota, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 7:00 p.m. at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

The concert, headlined by TV on the Radio with over 17 other confirmed artists including Fiona Apple, Devendra Banhart, Patricia Arquette and Riley Keough, will support the Standing Rock community, who recently celebrated a victory from the Dakota Access Pipeline project (#NoDAPL) but will need continued support.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that they will not grant permission for the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) to cross Lake Oahe, the hotspot which would cross the Missouri River, the primary drinking water source for the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation and 17 million downstream residents, as well as through communities, farms, the tribe's traditional and ancestral lands, sensitive natural areas and wildlife habitats.

We Rock with Standing Rock lineupDAPL jeopardized the tribe's culture and way of life and the opposition to the pipeline had grown into a historic gathering of tribes, allies and people from all walks of life, including 2000 retired veterans who arrived there on Dec. 4, standing in solidarity to halt the project.

“There are 500 legal changes still pending toward the water protectors. The means they will need continued support,” Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio and organizer of the benefit says. “The levels of deprivation, unconscionably low life expectancy, infant mortality and the adolescent suicide rate all point to the continued need for us to stand in support of First Nations people. We need to keep the light shining on this. We won this battle but the war does go on. Please let’s stay vigilant.”

We Rock with Standing Rock tickets went on sale on Friday, Dec. 9, at 10:00 a.m. PST and can be purchased at axs.com. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 for GA Floor and $35 for Reserved Balcony.

All of the proceeds from the concert will benefit The Official Oceti Sakowin Camp (Seven Council Fires) Fund, Native Children’s Survival, The Seeding Sovereignty Project and GiveLove.
