CMAT

"Stay for Something"

I'm writing this the morning after seeing Irish country-folk-pop sensation CMAT in Hollywood, so I'm still buzzing. And I know that this choice of track isn't from her recent, excellent Euro Country album. But it was the show closer on a very special night, and it's an emotionally draining yet somehow upbeat banger. Pure brilliance!

Mac Miller

"The Scoop on Heaven"

This track cuts deep in September. Mac's creative musings on eternity paint a utopia framed in 9th Wonder’s production. Always graceful in blending vulnerability with vision, his voice carries weight that still feels fresh—boy is he missed.

A Flock of Seagulls

"Space Age Love Song"

It's a powerful and excited approach to falling in love, something to be afraid of in a good way.

Rhiannon Giddens

"Wayfaring Stranger"

A hauntingly beautiful rendition of this folk/gospel song from the early 19th Century (possibly earlier 1780s per music historians).  Giddens' angelic voice captures the melancholy and sadness of the times. Her banjo and addition of the sedated accordion adds to the Americana genre.
