Geddy Lee’s Signed MP40 SansAmp Launches for Charity

Tech 21 and Geddy Lee have teamed up once again, this time for a release that blends iconic tone with meaningful tribute. Introducing the Autographed MP40 Special Charity Edition SansAmp—a limited run of just 200 units, available exclusively via Geddy Lee’s Reverb Shop. Each pedal is hand-signed by Geddy Lee, with proceeds benefiting two causes close to the heart of the Rush community.

This special edition isn’t just about sought-after gear—it’s a way to remember and honor the late Neil Peart, Rush’s legendary drummer and lyricist. According to a statement from the company, “The proceeds will go to two charities that honor the memory of Neil Peart.”

The first is the Neil Peart Memorial at Lakeside Park, located in Peart’s hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario. The city recently renamed a waterfront pavilion in his honor, and now a larger memorial is in development. “A larger memorial featuring bronze sculptures of Peart in his younger and later years, connected by a pathway with interpretive panels, is currently being developed at the park,” the company discloses.

The second is Cedars-Sinai for Glioblastoma Research in Memory of Neil Peart, the medical center where Peart received treatment following his diagnosis. “Cedars-Sinai, Los Angeles, turned those months into years,” reads the statement, recognizing the institution’s impact on extending Peart’s life and providing compassionate care.

Originally released in 2021, the MP40 Signature SansAmp commemorated the 40th anniversary of Moving Pictures, featuring custom artwork inspired by Hugh Syme’s unforgettable album design. Now, this autographed edition adds a deeper personal and philanthropic dimension.

A statement from the company explains: “The all-analog MP40 SansAmp builds upon the original Geddy Lee YYZ pedal with the addition of a selectable Boost stomp switch. It provides a 12dB presence boost for increased top-end distortion.”

There’s also the “Shape-shifter” button, which delivers an additional 6dB of tonal character—referred to by Geddy Lee as “an indefinable thing of awesomeness.” While lighthearted, it points to the careful craft and playfulness Lee brings to his tone.
