In 1979, two school kids, Jeff McDonald and his brother Steven, were both enamored with punk rock. They formed their own band in their hometown of Hawthorne, Los Angeles, the birthplace of the Beach Boys. Soon after, they found themselves opening shows for renowned punk rock pioneers Black Flag. Despite Jeff being only 15 years old and Steven being just 11, their band managed to become one of the most remarkable, enduring, and unique outfits in the punk rock genre.
This year, 2024, marks Redd Kross’s 45th birthday, which is a significant milestone for any band that continues to thrive at the age of 45. To celebrate this occasion, the brothers have organized a veritable multimedia extravaganza.
In November, a memoir titled “Now You’re One Of Us” will be released. The book is written by Dan Epstein and recounts the story of the McDonald brothers through their unique and sometimes contradictory voices. Additionally, a brilliant rockumentary titled “Born Innocent” will premiere later this year.
“Born Innocent: The Redd Kross Story” received the prestigious Sound Unseen Jury Award for Best Documentary. The film, directed by Emmy Award-winning Andrew Reich, premiered in Los Angeles last month to sold-out crowds and rave reviews. The movie follows the core Redd Kross members, Jeff and Steven McDonald, and their tumultuous relationship as brothers. It includes interviews with a diverse range of artists, such as the Go-Go’s, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth, Black Flag, and The Linda Lindas. “Born Innocent” will be screened theatrically across North America in January and February.

The New York based Progressive Americana group Nefesh Mountain Band has been hailed as one of the most formative boundary-pushing ensembles in roots music.
The band's creators and dynamic husband and wife team of Eric Lindberg and Doni Zasloff have created a world and sound all their own; blurring the lines between Americana, Bluegrass, Folk, Jazz and Blues with a masterful hand as songwriters, instrumentalists and composers alike.
The band, declared “A Powerhouse Unit” by Rolling Stone and "Introspective lyrics and world class musicianship” by American Songwriter, takes the listener on a deeply personal journey that embodies their own wild nature and unbridled free spirits, bridging compositional prowess and prolific songwriting with deft instrumentals and jams.
Since their formation nearly a decade ago, Nefesh Mountain has been proudly open and vocal about their background and heritage as Jewish Americans, and are among the first Americana / Bluegrass bands to infuse Jewish tradition and soul into the beautifully diverse tapestry of American roots music.
Doni and Eric are on road year-round with the Nefesh Mountain band.
