Nail The Mix hosts Billy Decker

Nail The Mix Hosts Acclaimed Country Mixer Billy Decker for April

For April's session, Nail The Mix has invited subscribers to try their hands at something different by mixing with acclaimed mixer Billy Decker, whose records have collectively sold over 25 million copies. For nearly two decades, Decker has been mixing for a wide range of artists, including country stars (Montgomery Gentry, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean), rock and metal artists (Bret Michaels) and rappers (Bubba Sparxxx). In addition to being the first engineer in Nashville to mix a Billboard Country Chart No. 1 exclusively in Pro Tools, Decker has mixed a total of 12 No. 1 tracks to date.

For the first "Country Music Month" on Nail The Mix, subscribers will be invited to mix five different tracks with Decker, including two No. 1 country tracks and a metal track. Titles include: Rodney Atkins - "These Are My People", Jess Moskaluke - "Drive Me Away", Genevieve Fisher - "Take It On Home", Chris Young & Cassadee Pope - "Think Of You" and Cognizance - "Aeon Of Creation." Decker will also lead an exclusive livestreaming class offering a complete walkthrough of how he mixed each of these tracks. NTM subscribers can download the multi-tracks today, then join Decker for the livestream on April 30. NTM will also host a Q&A chat with Decker on April 17, exclusively available to subscribers.

Billy Decker says, "I heard about Nail The Mix from an assistant engineer here in Nashville. I checked it out online, and thought, “Wow a bunch of music I like in a community-like setting!” I mix country and never thought they would give me the time of day...turns out I was wrong! The NTM staff is some of the nicest, most welcoming fellas. Eyal, Joey and Joel have to be some of the most driven, honest and, most importantly, knowledgeable professionals out there. They were so open to having someone from a different genre appear on their format. More importantly, the students making up their community were some of the most open-minded and eager to learn, even from a totally different genre! I would do a weekly appearance if they asked! Two thumbs up!"

NTM's Eyal Levi adds, "Nail The Mix is known as the place online to learn how to mix rock and metal, however if you want to become great at mixing you need to learn to reach beyond the confines of one genre. All the very best mixers pull influences from various musical styles. That's why I'm unbelievably stoked to welcome Billy Decker onto Nail The Mix. Not only is he a great guy, but he's one of the greatest mixers alive. I can't wait to get under the hood on his mixes and find out how he gets them sounding so huge, yet so clear on all systems. I urge ALL students of mixing to join us for the first ever Country Music month at Nail The Mix."

In addition to receiving the raw multi-tracks, those who get access to April's NTM class can take part in a user-judged mix competition with major prizes from Stam Audio, including a 1073MPA Dual Channel Preamp and SA-73 Single Channel Preamp. Select subscriber mixes will be chosen for airing on Nail The Mix's sister podcast, URM Podcast, as part of their "MixCritMonday" series.
