Zachary James: The first time I heard the opening riff to Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode,” I was driving around in an old friend’s Cadillac. I must’ve been 12 or 13 years old.
After hearing those few notes, it was like lightning struck my brain. A rock and roll revelation! To me, Chuck’s iconic riff encapsulates the whole ethos of rock and roll: bluesy, a little country, simple, and tons of attitude.
