Snare Jordan, drummer with veteran punks DFL (Dead Fucking Last), told us about his love for a Slayer beat...
Snare Jordan: It’s hard to pick just one since I’ve heard so many great riffs throughout the many years of my crazy life. But I guess one that stands out is Slayer’s masterpiece, "Angel of Death" from the 1986 release Reign in Blood.
Just the beginning of that song blew my mind the intense guitar build up and then Tom comes in with that high-pitched scream and Dave Lombardo starts playing that double bass riff which was the first time I ever really heard drums being played that way so that was a pretty big deal for me. Those first few bars of that song just really let you know that they weren’t messing around and I loved that. I was fifteen years old when I first heard that song and I’ve been a fan ever since.
