Ten Songs to Launch October

Fall may have started on September 23, but there's something different about October. Maybe it's the combo of the beginning of Autumn, Halloween approaching, the weather cooling -- we're not sure but there are a ton of songs about this month...

Bill Nelson

"The October Man"

Nelson’s prog-rock quirks give you a taste of the wonderfully weird. Autumn never sounded so audacious.

Matt Berry

"October Sun"

Matt Berry is best known for his comedic work in shows such as What We Do in the Shadows, The IT Crowd, and Garth Marenghi's Dark Place. But he's also a musician. Kill the Wolf was Berry's fourth studio album, released on Acid Jazz Records in 2013, though it's more a folky, proggy opus. "October Sun" is a shining example.

"we fell in love in october"

girl in red nails that “first love in fall” vibe—cute but shy; electric, and a little messy.

Broken Bells

"October"

The Broken Bells project and self-titled album saw James Mercer of The Shins join forces with Danger Mouse, and this is the sort of thing they dabbled in.

James Taylor

"October Road"

James Taylor does his trademark smooth storytelling, where every note feels like a friendly pat on the back. Easy, warm, unpretentious.
