Peter Holsapple of The dB's told us about his DOD Boneshaker love...
Peter Holsapple: A few years ago, I got a DOD Boneshaker Distortion Pedal. I thought the graphics were sweet. (I’m a sucker for that sort of curb appeal.)
When I plugged it in, I found that its controls, especially the EQ, gave it a broad range. The different degrees of distortion, depth and level were great for fine-tuning the sound you want, and the distortion itself is rich. I’ve dialed up any number of different tones from my Boneshaker, from ‘barely on’ to ‘completely over the top’ depending on what any song calls out for.
Lately, I’ve just kept the Boneshaker on for most of my electric sets, to give my Paranormal Esquire a little more oomph that what’s already in the pickup.
I believe I could very easily do a show with just my Ampeg Jet JT12 and my Boneshaker to cover all the lead parts. (Well, and a guitar of course.)
I own three Boneshakers, although I only keep one in my pedalboard. When you find a sound you like, I think it’s very prudent to grab up a few spares.
