New York Guitar Festival's Online Performance Series Continues This Week

The New York Guitar Festival’s online performance series, Reverend Gary Davis: In Search of the Harlem Street Singer, celebrates its final days of the festival this week. For its first-ever online festival, NYGF commissioned a diverse group of stellar artists to explore the music of blind blues musician Rev. Gary Davis. Tune in to the New York Guitar Festival YouTube Channel at 4pm EDT each day to watch performance premiers by Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams (May 13), Warren Haynes (May 14), and Larkin Poe (May 15).  Plus, NYGF announces today that it will host a special “encore” performance by Bill Frisell on May 16.

NYGF 2020 has premiered one video performance each day––by Rosanne Cash & John Leventhal, Jorma KaukonenFantastic NegritoAmythyst Kiah, and others––since the series’ launch on May 4. Bill Frisell’s electric rendition of Rev. Gary Davis’ “Twelve Gates to the City” premiered last weekend. Watch it HERE, and tune to a special 13th day of the series to see Frisell performing an acoustic version of the same song.
