Hit the Decks! It's Miss Mollie

Liverpool, U.K.-based DJ Miss Mollie started on her musical journey in 2009, at the age of 14.

"My parents bought me a DDJ 400 for my birthday," she says. "I’ll be honest, I never really took to it at first, then then my dad got me a couple of lessons in another college. I had a couple of lessons with Mike Chatterton, then we hit lockdown. I remembered what Mike had taught me, so I was just on my decks in the bedroom as there was nothing else to do. I remember I was watching live streams from Lee Butler and Mark Armstrong, and that’s where the real interest came from and real feel for the music. When restrictions lifted, I reached out to Mark Armstrong for lessons and that’s where studying in the LDJA [Liverpool DJ Academy] came from in 2021."

Of her sound, Miss Mollie says that she literally plays anything. "House, I love the older stuff from the '90s and '00s but disco is my thing. It hits different, but I play a lot of house at residencies and events, [and] I get to play a lot of old school. An open book when it comes to genres."

The DJ has plenty of recorded mixes on Soundcloud. "If you search Miss Mollie you’ll see all my content on there, the most recent mix was a competition entry for save the rave festival my mix ended up being the winning mix & now I’ll be playing main stage at save the rave Liverpool in July."

As for gear: "In my home studio, I use:

Pioneer XDJ XZ (4channel controller);

1 x Pioneer XDJ 1000MK2;

1 x Pioneer DJS 1000;

2 x Pioneer PLX-500 turntables;

Rokit 5 speakers;

Sennheiser HD 25 headphones.

Software, I’ll use rekordbox for Mac--that’s where I’ll sort all my music out."

Looking ahead, Miss Mollie has plenty planned for the second half of 2025.

"I have my residency at the Underground Gin Society every Friday, which I love, also coming up," she says. "I’m booked for quite a few private gigs July. I’ll be playing Save the Rave festival which I’m so excited about, then after that you’ll have to keep an eye on socials. You never know what will pop up."
