French DJ and producer Lola Cerise started DJ’ing and producing at the same time, during COVID in Australia.
"I’d always been drawn to DJing, and like for many artists, that period felt like the perfect moment to dive in," Cerise says. "As soon as I got on the decks, it became obvious to me that I also wanted to produce my own music. About three years ago, I decided to move back to Europe so I could cut out all distractions and fully focus on my artistic project."
Cerise describes her sound as psychedelic and fast-paced.
"What really excites me—and where I put most of my energy—is sound design," she says. "That’s where I get to push boundaries and create something unique."
Her latest release is the I Don't Speak German EP on ARTCORE.
"[It] was a release I’d been looking forward to for a long time, and I’m really happy with how it turned out," she says. "Indira’s selection of tracks for the EP truly reflects my universe—and I love that they stand out from a lot of what you hear today. Right now, I’m also working hard on my next album, which will consist entirely of collaborations with other artists. It’s planned for release around January next year on my own label, First Date Without Panties."
As for gear: "For mixing, I use an Allen & Heath Xone mixer with CDJ-3000s—I really enjoy the freedom of having so many hot cues on the new CDJs. For production, I work in Ableton with VSX headphones, an Arturia MIDI MKII, and classic plug-ins like Serum and Hive, which I love to modulate endlessly to craft my sound."
Looking ahead, Cerise has plenty planned for the rest of 2025.
"I’ve got some really exciting shows coming up that I can’t announce just yet… but I can say you’ll catch me at ADE, Teletech, and on a few YouTube streams very soon."
