Australian-born, LA-based producer and DJ EDDIE started out on his music journey in 2013 when he was just 16.
"Just making mashups on virtual DJ software and learning to DJ on pioneer controller," he says. "It wasn't until I attended the Good Life Underage Music Festival where my brain exploded and I became delusional enough to imagine myself on stage one day. After that it was hours a day learning to produce on the daw FL studio. In 2017 I launched my EDDIE project, and released two free downloads, original music and I got picked up by deadmau5’s record label mau5trap to release music with them… so it became serious from then onwards you could say!"
Regarding his sound, "With 'Step On It' and the rest of my upcoming music, I'd say the best way to describe my sound with a few words would be: Industrial, Avant Garde, Chic & melancholic. In more genre speaking terms you could say Electronic or Midtempo/Bass."
His latest release is that "Step On It track.
"It's a song that is meant to invoke attitude, self confidence and authenticity," EDDIE says. "The German vocals that appear midway are essentially saying that in the past all we wanted was to be heard and seen but it didn't happen so now we don't give a crap if you like us or not, this is who we are. So it's sort of a way for me to set the tone for the rest of the year in terms of my music. Also the way it came about, 'Step On It' is a song I started while I was in Europe, I was imagining a scene in my head; an underground rave under some abandon brutalist style bridge in Berlin, everything in slow motion, everyone is dancing not a phone in sight and collectively we are have this indescribable euphoric feeling, flashing lights and the crowd just matching this vibe of high fashion meets brutalism…yeah thats what my brain was thinking when this song was conceived, but anyways.:
As for gear: "In terms of physical synths, I don't use any (I don't have any), but I use Serum2 for 90% of my stuff, and then recently I dabbled with a nifty synth called Random, which has given me some really unique tonal sounds. I produce on the daw FL studio, and use Genelic speakers atm."
Looking ahead, EDDIE has plenty planned for the coming months.
"Planning to release a lot more music," he says. "I'm going to relaunch and revamp my Patreon as well, which will include BTS for these singles, plus an overall overhaul. In terms of tours and shows, I've just been in Australia renewing my work visa for the USA. Once that's done and ready I'll be back to organizing some shows."
