Guitar Center has long been the go-to destination for musicians chasing tone, gear, and inspiration. With over 300 stores across the U.S. and a deep bench of services ranging from lessons to repairs, the company has been helping people make music for more than 60 years. Now, it's adding a bold new chapter to its legacy—partnering with Epiphone to reintroduce a modern classic: the Les Paul Custom Widow.
The result? One of the most successful product launches in Guitar Center’s history.
The Epiphone Les Paul Custom Widow is a faithful reissue of the rare and coveted Gibson Les Paul Custom Widow guitars, first introduced as limited-edition versions of the iconic Les Paul Custom. Known for their dramatic finishes, rich tone, and upscale features, the original Widow models developed a devoted following—and this new run seems poised to do the same.
Available exclusively through Guitar Center, the Widow is offered in four striking new finishes: Indigo, Orange, Purple, and Red. These bold burst finishes sit beneath a high-gloss coat and rest atop beautifully figured flame maple tops. Each model features color-matched seven-ply binding, which adds a sleek visual cohesion and a refined feel.
A statement from the company quotes Guitar Center CEO Gabe Dalporto: “We’re proud to partner with Epiphone to create these Widow guitars in four striking colors, which are truly exceptional instruments that can only be found at Guitar Center.”
Under the hood, the Widow delivers in both design and tone. It features a solid mahogany body for warmth and sustain, paired with a mahogany neck carved into a modern medium C profile for easy playability. The ebony fingerboard includes 22 frets with elegant pearloid block inlays, giving the guitar a classic-yet-contemporary character.
Sound-wise, the Epiphone ProBucker Custom humbuckers are the stars, offering vintage-style warmth with modern dynamic response. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, along with a Graph Tech nut and Grover Rotomatic tuners, ensure tuning stability and performance reliability. All hardware is finished in chrome, adding a premium touch to an already well-appointed instrument.
And yes—it includes a high-quality gig bag for added protection and portability.
Priced at $799, the Widow delivers an impressive blend of classic Les Paul styling, modern upgrades, and exclusive appeal at an accessible price point. But players looking to pick one up might want to act fast—supply is limited.
As the company notes, the new Widows “capture the legendary spirit, craftsmanship, and tonal performance of the originals while offering musicians an accessible price point.”
With its bold finishes, upgraded features, and Guitar Center-exclusive status, the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Widow is more than a reissue—it’s a reimagining designed for today's players, without losing the soul of what made the original so revered.
