Gibson has announced the release of one of its most exclusive artist collaborations to date: the Dave Grohl DG-335 Limited Edition in Alpine White, created with direct input from the Foo Fighters frontman. With only 50 instruments available worldwide, the model marks one of Gibson Custom’s rarest modern offerings.

The new DG-335 recreates the striking Alpine White guitar Grohl has been using onstage since 2021, pairing its standout aesthetic with the tonal character that has long made the DG-335 lineage a fan favorite. As Gibson notes, this limited run arrives “made in close collaboration and with significant input from Dave Grohl,” underscoring its status as an artist-approved design rather than a simple reissue.
The DG-335 blends features of Gibson’s ES-335 and Trini Lopez models—an approach Grohl has championed since his earliest signature guitars. The semi-hollow body features a three-ply maple/poplar/maple build and the signature Trini Lopez-style diamond-shaped sound holes, both of which contribute to its familiar resonance and stage-ready look.
Additional construction details include:
- Solid maple center block for increased sustain and reduced feedback
- Mahogany neck carved to a Trini Lopez profile
- Bound Indian rosewood fretboard with split-diamond inlays
- Firebird/Trini Lopez–style headstock with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners
- TonePros ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles and locking Stop Bar tailpiece
- Unpotted Custombucker pickups with aged Alnico 3 magnets
- CTS pots, paper-in-oil capacitors, and a Switchcraft three-way toggle
- Gold “Top Hat” knobs with silver reflectors

Each instrument ships with a Gibson Custom hardshell case and includes a soundhole label hand-signed by Dave Grohl, further reinforcing its limited and premium nature.
Grohl’s previous signature Gibson guitars have become highly sought-after on the resale market, often commanding premium prices. Given the extremely limited run and the artist signature, this Alpine White DG-335 is expected to follow that trend. With distribution limited to gibson.com and Gibson Garage locations in Nashville and London, availability will be scarce from the outset.
The release arrives ahead of Foo Fighters’ recently announced 2026 global stadium tour, beginning June 10 in Oslo and wrapping September 26 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. The band returns to large venues following their massive 2023–2024 Everything or Nothing at All run. Queens of the Stone Age will support on all dates except the September 12 Fargo performance.
