ASCAP Experience Unveils Spring Programming: NFT Session with Poo Bear

ASCAP Experience, ASCAP’s signature event created to inspire, educate and connect aspiring songwriters and composers everywhere, has announced its next wave of spring programming. On April 27, together with The ASCAP Lab, it will host a conversation with Grammy-winning songwriter/producer Poo Bear (Justin Bieber, Usher, Chris Brown) about the potential of NFTs for music creators. On May 5, wrapping up ASCAP Screen Music Awards, it will present a panel discussion between the ASCAP composers of some of the past year's biggest hit streaming series.

“NFTs: What Every Music Creator Needs to Know” takes place on @ASCAP YouTube on April 27 at 3PM ET/12PM PT. Moderated by nft now co-founder and veteran music journalist Matt Medved, Poo Bear and music technology consultant Vickie Nauman (CrossBorderWorks) will speak about the potential of NFTs for music creators, key issues to consider and Poo Bear's new NFT band and music project, Ursa Major. The session is presented by The ASCAP Lab, ASCAP’s innovation initiative that explores how the intersection of technology, art and business can positively impact music creators and music users.

“Main Stream Music: Composing for TV in the Streaming Age” will be hosted on @ASCAP YouTube on May 5 at 3PM ET/12PM PT. Composers of three hit TV series, Carter Burwell (The Morning Show), Natalie Holt (Loki) and Siddhartha Khosla (Only Murders in the Building) will come together for a virtual conversation moderated by Variety’s Jazz Tangcay on how composers have contributed to the incredible cultural impact that streaming series have had during the pandemic. The session caps off the ASCAP Screen Music Awards, recognizing the top film, TV and video game composers of the past year on @ASCAP social media from May 2-5.

So far this year, ASCAP Experience has hosted sessions with some of today's biggest hitmakers, from Tommy Brown and Mr. Franks (writers behind Ariana Grande's "positions," "pov" and "34+35") to Germaine Franco, composer of the score for Encanto, part of Disney’s biggest movie soundtrack in years. Last year's ASCAP Experience reached its widest audience ever – over 41,000 views across real-time and on-demand streaming, generating a 39% increase in attendance and 53% increase in RSVPs compared to the previous year.

ASCAP Experience events for 2022 will continue to roll out on a monthly basis this spring and summer. More information can be found at ascapexperience.com.
