Appalachian-born, Nashville-based musician Angela Autumn told us about her love for her Fishman Platinum Acoustic Preamp...
Angela Autumn: My most important piece of gear is my Fishman Platinum Acoustic Preamp. I got it when I was 18 or 19. For years this was all I had and it served me well. I play a Collings D2H acoustic guitar so this preamp allows me to pull the fullest sound, and pairs well with my beautiful instrument.
Fiddle players, banjo players or really any bluegrass musicians also use this preamp, and it’s great for small venues where the system is eh-just whatever; but also for clubs and concert halls when the sound engineer needs more sound bandwidth to dial in.
At times it has died on me but I’ve met gear guys who helped me troubleshoot. Much of my time as a musician is just hoping for the best at each show. You never know. I appreciate the semblance of consistency provided by this piece of gear.
Angela Autumn's album Believer is out September 11 via Gar Hole Records.
