Niko Moon’s upcoming studio album American Palm is inoffensive, middle-of-the-road West Coast-style country meant for back decks and barbecues—ukuleles alongside guitars. Moon’s message is about wellbeing and good times, with a motif of coastal cowboy living with all four of the singles featuring references to beaches and taking life easy. The good vibes can be hindered by awkward mixing in which the instrumentation drowns out the vocals, the album’s greatest offense is being untextured and unremarkable.
