All Saints

"Pure Shores"

Genuinely, I thought this song was called "The Beach," because it's so tied into the 2000 Danny Boyle movie of that name , based on the novel by Alex Garland that raised such a buzz. Brit soul-popsters All Saints did a great job with this moody little gem though. It keeps building.

J.Cole

"Quik Stop"

After much anticipation, J. Cole released The Fall Off. This track feels like the album's thesis, and when he reminds us that "It's the difference you make," it might make ya cry.

Gesaffelstein

"Opr"

His weird little get-up at the Grammys intrigued me enough, and now I can't get this track out of my head.

Gary Numan

Are 'Friends' Electric?

Despite coming out in 1979, this track has always and will always sound like the future. Heavy guitar and analog synth melt together to create a deep melancholia about the cold relationship between man and machine. Numan has always walked the line between bright new wave elements and dark goth elements, creating tracks perfect for both a dance party and an existential crisis.

Powered By Rainbows

"Sell Me Lies"

Poignant lyrics, great beat.
